Grateful Hearts & Global Adventures: Thanksgiving Abroad

There’s something magical about celebrating Thanksgiving far from home.

A few years ago, Brett and I spent Thanksgiving Day watching the Irish countryside roll by on a train from Dublin to Galway. We traded turkey for shepherd’s pie, pumpkin pie for sticky toffee pudding, and family football for the twinkling lights of the Galway Christmas Market.

Sheep graze on a lush green hill under a cloudy sky. Reflections appear on a window surface, suggesting movement from a vehicle.
A scenic view from the train journey between Dublin and Galway on Thanksgiving Day, capturing the serene Irish countryside with grazing sheep under a vast, cloud-filled sky.

When we ducked into a cozy Irish pub that evening — fire crackling, glasses clinking, laughter spilling into the night — we found a new kind of gratitude. Not just for travel itself, but for the freedom to experience the world in unexpected ways.

Every trip we plan for our clients feels like a small extension of that same joy — helping couples, families, and friends discover the moments that remind them what they’re thankful for.

So whether your Thanksgiving traditions involve a crowded table or a passport stamp, may your holiday be filled with warmth, connection, and a little adventure.

Happy Thanksgiving from Expedition Everywhere Travel — wherever the journey takes you.
